LUXLY GLOSSARY

Longevity

In short

Longevity is the aim of living not just long, but healthy for as long as possible. The focus is on the years in which you feel fit and independent.

Aim
More healthy years of life
Typical stay
3 to 7 nights
Core
Diagnostics, exercise, sleep, nutrition
Suits
People who want to prevent and change habits

Experts distinguish between lifespan and healthspan. Lifespan counts all years, healthspan only the healthy ones. Longevity aims to extend the second: fewer years with chronic illness, more years with energy.

The most effective levers are unspectacular and well researched: regular exercise with strength and endurance, good sleep, a plant-forward diet, little alcohol, no smoking and close relationships with other people. Add prevention that spots risks early.

A longevity hotel combines these levers with medicine. Typical are thorough diagnostics at the start, a conversation with doctors and a plan for home. The real value is rarely a single treatment, but someone who interprets the results and sets realistic goals with you.

Good to know

  • Longevity is not a protected term. Ask which doctors work in the house and what exactly is examined.
  • Not every test is useful. Good houses explain what a value means for you and what follows from it.
  • The best stay ends with a plan you can genuinely follow at home.

Frequently asked questions

What do you do at a longevity hotel?

A stay usually starts with an examination, such as blood values, heart, body composition and fitness. Exercise, nutrition, rest and medical conversations follow. At the end you get a personal plan for home.

Is longevity scientifically proven?

The big levers such as exercise, sleep, nutrition and not smoking are very well researched. Many newer offers such as special infusions or tests are not yet. An honest house tells you what is established and what is not.

How long should a longevity stay last?

Three to four nights are often enough for thorough diagnostics with a review. If you also want to change habits, plan for a week.
