The Chenot Method is considered one of Europe's most consistent detox programmes. It combines ideas from Chinese medicine with Western diagnostics. Here is how a programme works, what you eat and who it is worthwhile for.
- Developed by Henri Chenot, at Palace Merano since 1980.
- Diagnostics, its own nutrition and daily treatments work hand in hand.
- Consistent and tightly scheduled, not a relaxed spa holiday.
Where the method comes from
Henri Chenot developed his method over decades, from 1980 at Palace Merano in South Tyrol. His idea: unburden, detoxify and realign the body, with principles from Chinese medicine and modern diagnostics. Today there are Chenot houses in Weggis on Lake Lucerne and as Espace Chenot at L'Albereta in Franciacorta, among others.
How a programme works
It starts with a medical analysis and consultation. Then follows a set plan: light, tailored nutrition and daily treatments such as hydrotherapy, wraps, massages and movement. At the end you receive recommendations for home.
Programmes usually last four to seven days. The day is tightly scheduled, but there are breaks.
- Medical analysis and consultation
- Chenot nutrition, light and carefully tailored
- Daily treatments from hydrotherapy to massage
- Final consultation with a plan for home
Chenot is not a wellness holiday, but a fresh start with a plan.
What does it feel like?
The first days can be demanding: less food, no coffee, no alcohol, many appointments. Afterwards many report more energy and a clearer head. Honestly, this is very individual and there is no guarantee.
Who Chenot suits and who it does not
People who want a clear fresh start and cope well with rules. It suits less if you simply want to relax or struggle with a full schedule. With pre-existing conditions, the medical team clarifies beforehand whether the programme is right for you.
